Braque, Georges (1882-1963)
A French painter who is credited with originating the cubist style of painting, Georges
Braque is known among the line of painters including Picasso, Matisse, and Cezanne.
Through intense study of light, and changing to his use of contradictory shading, Braque
refined his style continuously. His method of painting is additionally characterized by
brilliant color and textured surfaces, as is seen in the paintings of Pablo Picasso, with
whom Braque closely worked. |
